About the experience

Inspired by the magic of plantation life, this classic estate brings forth the past to the present with 18 beautiful colonial-style rooms arranged around the original Planter’s Bungalow. The regal boutique hotel blends in with its surroundings; situated on a craggy cliff, the views are spectacular with high misty mountains on one side and low-lying blue valleys on the other. The estate is nestled within 60 acres of a working cardamom plantation, and watching the activities on the property are one of the unique delights you'll find here.
Away from the concrete jungle, the temperature is cool and pleasant, and the air is delicately scented with the sweet smell of freshly cut grass and wildflowers. You can spend your days going on leisure treks around the area, taking in the gorgeous vistas from the vantage point or enjoying a hot cup of chai in the neatly maintained gardens.

- Climb to the top of the gigantic boulder and take in the beautiful sunrise and sunset views, and panoramic vistas of the hills and valleys from this vantage point.
- Read a book on a hammock on the plantation, surrounded by greenery.
- Explore the acres of the plantation on a plantation trek.
- Have a delicious barbecue meal at the bottom of the boulder, which is caved in to create a unique restaurant.
- Walk through guava, gooseberry, and peach trees in the Garden.
- Pick out an interesting book from the Library.
- Sight the red-whiskered bulbul and the Malabar whistling thrush in the morning with a bird-watching session.

- We stayed for 4 nights and were bowled over by the stunning views, excellent food and attentive staff. Ansel, the on-site naturalist, provided an excellent walk around the cardamom plantation and passed on to the kitchen our love for the local banana fritters, which they surprised us with at tea time.
- The room was comfortable and a good size, and we had excellent nights of sleep. The breakfast was plentiful and the lunch was delicious. The site is a little away from the main town, and involves a stunning if somewhat bumpy drive.
- An amazing resort situated just 3 kms away from Munnar Town. This is an ideal place if you want to take a break from your busy schedule. All cottages are spacious and with a sit out or a balcony. The best things is the quietness of this place. another interesting thing is the view point. You can enjoy the sunset and sunrise from here. They don't have an elaborate menu for the food but whatever they are serving is outstanding.
- Munnar is very beautiful and Windermere Estate is a charming place from which to explore the area. It is a working cardamom and coffee plantation with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Our large balcony overlooked the adjoining tea plantation which was glorious and early morning birdsong was a great way to start the day. Staff are all very helpful and polite and service was excellent.
