Vaikom, located in the Kottayam district of Kerala, is a town with a rich history and serene charm. It was a significant destination during the Indian Independence Movement's Satyagraha and is the oldest city in Kottayam. The town is in close proximity to the renowned tourist spot of Kumarakom. Vaikom Temple, constructed in 1594, is a prominent feature and hosts vibrant celebrations during Vaikom Ashtami in November. With its tranquil surroundings and expansive 8-acre courtyard, the temple adds to the town's allure. Vaikom's history is intertwined with the kingdoms of Venmalanadu, Vadakkumkoor, and Thekkumkoor, before becoming part of the Travancore kingdom in 1742. Today, Vaikom is a town of approximately 22,637 residents with a high literacy rate of 92%.
