Mandara Parvat, a towering granite hill standing at an elevation of approximately 750 feet, holds immense cultural and religious significance for Hindus and Jains. According to Hindu mythology, this sacred site in Bhagalpur is believed to be the location where the Samudra Manthan, or Churning of the Ocean, took place, with Mount Mandara serving as the churning rod. The hill is also associated with the defeat of the demon Madhu by Lord Vishnu, and it is said to be the birthplace of the conch shell Panchajanya, which played a pivotal role in the Mahabharata War. Additionally, the hill features intricate sculptures of Hindu deities and is revered as the place where the 12th Tirthankara, Vasupujya, attained Nirvana according to Jain beliefs.
