Surya Kund is a natural hot water spring located near the Yamunotri Temple in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India. Situated at an altitude of around 4,421 meters above sea level, it is considered a sacred site by the locals. The hot water of the Surya Kund is believed to be infused with high levels of sulfur and other minerals that are considered to have medicinal properties. It is also a place of religious significance, as the hot water is used to cook rice or potato tied in a muslin cloth, and it is believed that consuming this offering fulfills the desires of the devotees. Surrounded by the snow-capped Kalindi mountains, the kund offers a divine and picturesque ambiance, and according to Hindu mythology, it is named after the revered Yamuna River, the daughter of the Sun God Surya.
