Bamboo Rafting through Forests

Looking for a day under the sun in beautiful, lush Wayanad? This rural district of Kerala is overflowing with natural bounty that invites you to explore its outdoors. With tea gardens filled with delicate tea plants sprouting from the ground, misty mountains that stretch into the sky, yawning valleys with thickets of vegetation and gently flowing rivers, Wayanad immerses you into the best nature has to offer.  

Make your way to the oldest tea plantations of Wayanad, nestled at the bottom of a range of majestic mountains. Slowly, you walk through a grassy meadow until you reach the shimmering Vythiri River. Board a sturdy bamboo raft and get ready for an adventure of a lifetime!  

The raft glides atop the greenish-blue water through thick forests of slender canes of bamboo and frail rushes as well as coffee and tea estates filled with red berries and unfurling tea leaves.  Keep an eye out for the colourful birds that sing sweetly amongst the branches and the insect life that whirs beneath the trees. The famous Malabar Hornbill graces these forests and might make a rare appearance to delight you.  

Take a refreshing dip in the shallow stretches of the river and make your way back to the starting point of your river expedition. The trip isn’t complete without trying the fragrant, flavourful tea at the local tea shop accompanied by fresh, hot snacks that will melt in your mouth.
