All you want to know about the Experience
Bidar which borders Maharashtra in the north-eastern region of Karnataka has green stretches of lush forests. Amongst the leafy canopy of the woods, the endangered blackbuck roams freely, galloping on grassy plains and quenching their thirst at gleaming watering holes. Also known as the Indian antelope, the black buck is a beautiful tall mammal with long ringed horns that rise high above their heads. Extinct in Pakistan and Bangladesh, hunting blackbucks is prohibited under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. A diurnal antelope, small herds of the blackbuck are scattered in protected areas of the Indian landscape.
In Indian culture, this mighty antelope was an important part of the Indus Valley Civilization and has been depicted in the rich art of the Mughal era. According to Hindu Mythology, the blackbuck draws the sacred chariot of Lord Krishna and was the vehicle of Vayu (the wind god).
Nestled next to the Vilaspur Lake, close to the Honnikeri Reserve Forest, the Blackbuck Resort is a sprawling oasis that brings you close to this lovely antelope. Thickets of greenery envelope the resort, and away from the harsh lights of the city, the soothing ambience of nature prevails. The silence is often broken by the fluting singing of birds as if nature is cracking a smile while you snooze away in your cozy wooden cottage. Your cottage stands upright beside the sparkling lake, giving you unhindered views of the sun glinting on its cool, clear waters or the moon as it shines over the quiet forest at night.
Take a nature walk down the green trails and catch sight of the spectacular variety of avian wildlife that flocks to the forest, including the royal blue, showy peacock that with luck will open its exquisite fan of colorful feathers. The pleasant weather allows you to take long romps through the city of Bidar where remnants of the great Bahmani Dynasty have stood the test of time. Here, you’ll find a mix of Persian, Turkish, and Hindu architectural styles that testify to the different cultural influences the capital has experienced.
A heritage treasure trove that is often forgetten, Bidar is a lovely pearl in the heart of the Deccan Plateau. As night falls, you can dine in the rustic, community-style Gol Ghar and feast on delicious, freshly-prepared food flavoured with the spices of the region! During the evening, you can follow the tracks of the blackbuck, catching sight of their regal profile against the warm, dusky twilight.
Make your way to this quaint resort that offers you a unique slice of Karnataka’s wildlife.
