About the experience

The white-sanded coasts of goa see hordes of visitors every year, some coming in search of parties that go all night long, some for the tantalizing seafood, and others for the rich history and culture of the region. Speaking of history, one of the most visited areas in goa would be Margao. Several battles had been fought in the making of Margao, the marks of which can still be seen today.

The trail takes you through some iconic landmarks like the Holy Spirit Church which has been standing since the year 1564. A special phenomenon occurs here twice a year during the equinox when sunlight starts streaming into the church and lights up the three alters within. Back in 1890, when 4000 Goans stood up in protest for the right to vote outside this church, the Portuguese had opened fire on the crowd. This moment in history is known as the Margao Massacre and is seen as one of the darkest moments in the region's history.

The tour will also take you along the quiet streets of Comba to explore the interesting Hindu architecture. The trail starts at 3:30 pm and goes on for about two and a half hours, covering a distance of about 1.5 km. If you’re truly interested in the history of this region, then this tour won't disappoint!
