About the experience

One of the tallest mountains in the Western Ghats, Wayanad, Kerala, Banasura Hill is named after a mythical character of Indian legends. At the foot of this beautiful rock formation is the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. Lush and green, you can practically see the clouds touching the summit of the hill from the foothills and this leaves you excited to climb its narrow, rocky path.

Start your trek from the foothills of the range and walk your way past a small rural community that still follows a simple, fulfilling traditional way of life before you encounter green pockets of Shola forests. As you hike along this trail, you’ll be treated to astounding views of the Banasura Mountains as it opens up in front of you and this fuels you forward to the summit.

Finally, you come across the Frog Rock where the best views await you. Have a seat at this lovely spot and dine on your lunch as you take in the surrounding landscape. The beauty of Wayanad stretches at your feet and you’re left feeling satisfied and victorious after completing this trek.

FAQs

Will water and snacks be provided on this trek?

Yes, we will provide you with water and snacks for this lovely trek. However, feel free to carry any small treats you’d like to enjoy on the trail.

What should I carry for this trek?

We’d recommend packing as light as possible as the trek will be long and uphill. You can carry your own water bottle, sunscreen, travel toiletries, energy fueling snacks and your lunch.

Will lunch be provided?

No, meals are not provided for this trek. It’s best to carry your own lunch and try to keep your meal light. We’d recommend sandwiches, lemon rice or even a tasty poha to reduce the number of containers and prevent you from feeling sluggish for the walk downhill.

Will toilets be available during the trek?

No, you’ll be in the midst of nature, so toilets will not be accessible. You can use the toilet at the starting point but elsewhere you’ll have to adjust to the surroundings.
