One of the most important products to be created from the rainforest, rubber changed the face of the industrial revolution. The leading rubber plantation state in India, Kerala also boasts the title of having the first commercial rubber plantations in the country established in Thattekadu in 1902.  

Tall and slender, rubber trees have cords tightly wound around their trunks and from here oozes the rubber that is carefully harvested. Take a hike through the sprawling rubber estates in Trivandrum and discover the serenity and natural beauty that lurks within its premises.  

Walking through rows of emerald trees with branches that form an intricate canopy above your head is a sheer delight. Your guide will tell you the story of rubber and how this liquid gold is used all over the world. A short trip to the rubber factory will grow your knowledge on how it’s processed and shipped from Kerala.

Will water and snacks be provided on this trek?    

Yes, we will provide you with water and snacks for this lovely trek. However, feel free to carry any small treats you’d like to enjoy on the trail.    

Is this trek family friendly?   

Yes, this trek is easy and family friendly.  

What should I carry for this trek?    

We’d recommend packing as light as possible as you will be on foot. You can carry your own water bottle, sunscreen, travel toiletries, energy fueling snacks and your lunch.    

Will lunch be provided?    

No, meals are not provided for this trek. It’s best to carry your own lunch and try to keep your meal light. We’d recommend sandwiches, lemon rice or even a tasty poha to reduce the number of containers and prevent you from feeling sluggish for the rest of the walk.  

Will toilets be available during the hike?  

Yes, toilets will be available on the rubber plantation.
