When you think of lush green hills and vast coffee plantations in Karnataka, the first place your mind races to maybe the elegant hillside of Coorg. However, did you know that the first place in the entire country to cultivate coffee was Chikmagalur? With dense green forests and towering peaks lining up the horizon, Chikmagalur is a beautiful escape from life in the city and what better way to experience nature than to set off on some of the famous trekking trails in the region.

This no trail trek, located in the Kundremukh forest range, is an experience like no other. Forge your path through the lush green forests of the Western Ghats, and if you're lucky enough, you may even find a few Sambar Deers, Bisons and Bears too! The trek is moderately difficult, so make sure you're ready for whatever it throws your way.

As you reach the peak, you can feast your eyes on the beautiful view from the top. Touch the low hanging clouds as they drift over the valleys, hills and dense forests and enjoy breathing in the fresh air. Before making your way back down, munch on the packed lunch and refuel yourself for the trip. On your way back to Bangalore, you’ll also make a stop at Elaneeru falls.
