The Western Ghats of Karnataka are a biodiversity hotspot. With a myriad of flora and fauna, this beautiful region speaks volumes about the state’s natural beauty. The Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected wildlife sanctuary in the Western Ghats that was established in 1974 and the perennial river flows through the land.
The sanctuary forms a contiguous stretch of protected area that includes the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary, and Kudremukh National Park. Within the sanctuary you’ll find the Bengal Tiger, Indian leopard, Ussuri dhole, Indian elephant, Indian jackal, spotted deer, Black naped hare, lion-tailed macaque, Great Indian hornbill, Malabar grey hornbill and the list goes on…
The gently flowing river draws in water birds and within its warm depths swim otters and the famous mahseer fish.
The Seethanadi Nature Camp is in Hebri and is situated inside the lovely Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary. Surrounded by greenery on all sides, the camp is a quiet oasis that gives you the chance to take in the wonders of nature without the disturbing noise and dust of the city. Here, you can commune with nature, unraveling its hidden mysteries. On your nature walks, you’re treated to the sight of the wildlife of Karnataka as they live joyfully in their natural habitat. Identifying the tracks of the different beasts until you stumble upon them is a glorious feeling.
Make your way to this off-beaten camp that shows you a different side of Karnataka and allows you to experience nature and serenity.
