Kurukshetra, a holy city in Haryana, is famously known as Dharmakshetra and is revered as the Land of the Bhagavad Gita. Located 170 kilometers north of Delhi, this historic city is renowned for being the battleground of the Kauravas and the Pandavas in the ancient Indian epic, Mahabharata. It holds immense significance as the place where Lord Krishna imparted the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. Additionally, Kurukshetra has been an important center for Vedic civilization and education in the past, attracting visits from Lord Buddha and several Sikh Gurus. With its numerous devout centers, holy shrines, and ancient kunds, Kurukshetra is steeped in the rich history of the earliest Indian civilization and Vedic culture. Archaeological evidence suggests that the city dates back to the pre-Harappan era, and it was formerly known as Thanesar or Sthaneswar, meaning 'place of God'. The city boasts a wealth of temples, lakes, and museums that offer insights into the pre-Harappan and Harappan civilizations. Just a few kilometers from Kurukshetra lies the village of Amin, where remnants of a fort believed to be Arjuna's son, Abhimanyu's fort, can be found.
