Your itinerary at Kali Adventure Camp

  • A day at the Kali Wilderness and Adventure Camp can include checking in at 1pm and settling in, followed by a delicious lunch at the Gol Ghar. After lunch, gear up for a guided tour in the park at 3.15pm, either a wildlife safari in a vehicle in the Kali Tiger Reserve or a Coracle ride in the Kali river.
  • During the tour, naturalists share their experiences and knowledge of the jungle and the animals that live there. After the tour, enjoy tea/coffee at 6.30pm while relaxing before watching a wildlife movie in the Conference Hall at 7.30pm. The day ends with a campfire and dinner from 8.30 pm onwards at the Gol Ghar, where guests can share stories and experiences with other visitors and staff.
  • The next day starts with a wake up call at 6:00 am, followed by a cup of tea or coffee. At 7:00 am, the naturalists take you on a nature walk or bird watching tour, sharing their experiences and information about the jungle and the animals that live there.
  • After the tour, breakfast is served back at the camp at 8:30 am. The morning can be further enjoyed with a coracle ride on the Kali river around 9:00 am. For those leaving, the camp management suggests a return visit to fully experience the different facets of the river and if interested, whitewater rafting can be taken in the morning of the second day, or better staying for another night to fully enjoy the destination.

Best season to visit

Dandeli is a pleasant and inviting destination from October to early March. The weather during this time is generally mild and comfortable, making it a great time to visit for outdoor activities such as jungle trekking and bird watching. The white water rafting season starts in November and goes on until June. This is the best time to experience the thrill of rafting on the Kali river, as the water levels are high and the rapids are more challenging during this time. It is also worth noting that the monsoon season, which runs from June to September, is also a great time to visit Dandeli. During this time, the forests are at their verdant best, and the waterfalls and rivers are full. This is an ideal time for activities such as kayaking and coracle rides, as well as for nature lovers who want to see the lush greenery and wildlife.

 

How to get there

By road: The resort is situated at a distance of about 100 km from Goa, and 473 km from Bangalore. Dandeli is well connected by road to Bangalore, Bombay, Goa, Belgaum, Karwar, and Dharwad/Hubli. Every day, several luxury buses travel to Dandeli. From Bangalore, there are direct overnight buses to Dandeli. The luxury buses that travel between Mumbai and Mangalore / Bangalore always pass through Dharwad. You can arrive in Dharwad and take a taxi or bus to Dandeli. 

 

 

By rail: The nearest railway station is Hubli junction with trains connecting to major cities. Alight at Londa or Dharwad/Hubli Railway Station from Bangalore or Bombay and continue by road.

 

 

By air: The nearest airport is Dabolim International airport with flights connecting to major cities in India. A few airlines have started flights to Hubli, from where Dandeli is an hour-and-half drive away.

Things to note

When visiting the Kali Wilderness and Adventure Camp it is recommended to dress in comfortable clothes and avoid bright colors, instead opt for muted shades of green, black, grey, and brown as it helps to blend in with the natural environment. Also, make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and avoid smoking, as it can cause a forest fire. Since you'll be spending a lot of time outdoors, it's important to bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a torch. As the camp is trying to reduce plastics, please avoid bringing plastics during the visit. Pets are not allowed at the camp.

 

Attractions around the property

The Kavala Caves are an important spiritual site in Dandeli, known for its ancient cave temples, including a gigantic "Shivaling" inside. To get through the gates of Kavala Caves, you must first climb the 375 steps that line its foothills. This is a true adventure for anyone who enjoys the thrill of snakes and bats.
