Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary
Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Dandeli National Park, is spread over an area of 834.16 sq. km. in the western region of Karnataka. It is one of the best tourist places for nature lovers. History of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary
In 1956, Dandeli gained the tag of a “National wildlife sanctuary” and was then onwards recognized as the second largest wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka. Dandeli wildlife sanctuary has been running a joint project to save the tigers with the neighbouring Anshi National Park (339.87 sq. km.) since 2006. Dandeli was also officially notified as to the Dandeli Elephant Reserve under Project Elephant on 4 June 2015 by the Karnataka State Government. Every year, hordes of nature enthusiasts visit Dandeli National Park to experience the amazing nature and the sounds of lush forests along with a wildlife safari. They love the journey through the stretch of forests while enjoying and appreciating the diversified faunas and floras with their camera lenses.
