Have you ever thought how colors trigger emotions in an individual? Color psychology talks about how colors influence our behavior. The psychological effects of colour have direct impact on our emotions like comfort, warmth, anger etc. are  Blue is supposed to make you feel calm, red is associated with excitement and love, yellow feels warm, summery, etc. Colours and emotions are closely related and different colours evoke different emotions. Which is why we see usage of colours in representing emotions in art, design etc.     

The colour green is often associated with nature, life, energy, renewal, healing. Did you know that a human eye can see more shades of green than other colors? This is perhaps because not long ago, our ancestors resided in lush areas and actual jungles, not the concrete jungles that we reside in. Shinrin-yoku or ‘Forest Bathing’

The Japanese knew this secret for a long time! Shinrin-yoku or ‘Forest Bathing’ is a Japanese phenomenon in which an individual simply connects with nature, connecting with nature through our senses of sight, smell, touch, sight, and hearing. It bridges the gap between you and nature. The effect of forest bathing has on us is dominated by the color green.

Different shades of green provoke different emotions within us. Imagine a young leaf which is light green in color, what does it make you feel? Imagine seeing dew drops on dark green leaves...

Even when we talk about eyesight, the color absorbs harmful UV rays and eliminates the fatigue of eyes by seeing natural views at a distance. AS per colour psychology, the color green evokes a feeling of abundance and is generally associated with rejuvenating our minds.

Do you know the effect of colour on human behaviour? Colors with low wavelength promote restfulness and calm and improve efficiency and focus. Don’t believe us? Well, there is research from the University of Melbourne which proves that glancing out and looking at greenery for just 40 seconds can markedly boost concentration! The research suggests that it is extremely important to take micro-breaks from the work in the arms of greenery. These breaks have been observed to help you concentrate better at your task!

Now you know what you should do when you feel like you need a break. Take a break in nature’s lap, away from your daily stress and anxiety to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul.
